Okavango Delta.  Nothing Compares!

The Okavango Delta is vast; it is mind blowingly vast.  If you don't believe me, take a small plane or helicopter trip from Maun and fly over just the smallest part of it.  It stretches from horizon to horizon and at 2,000 feet above the ground, the horizons stretch for a very long way.

As a UNESCO World Heritage site, The Okavango Delta is generally acknowledged to be one of THE places to view Africa's famous wildlife.  The Big 5 animals all call the Delta home, including one of the rarest animals in Africa; The African Wild Dog.  It can still be found amongst the Delta's vast wetlands.  Additionally, there are also over 500 stunningly beautiful species of birds that can be found here.

A "must do" trip on the Delta has to be taken in a Mokoro.  A Mokoro is a hollowed-out tree trunk in the shape of a canoe that is propelled forward like a punt with the boatman standing at the back, pusing into the shallows with a pole.  If you are lucky, an inquisitive hippo might come over to see what is happening, however, even the shyest of them can be seen through the clear water.
