The Namibian Experience
You can get away from it all like you can nowhere else on Earth
When thinking about an African holiday, the country Namibia may not be what immediately springs to mind as it is one of the lesser known tourist destinations. However, if you are looking for a certain type of holiday then Namibia might be just what you are looking for. Recognised as one of the safest countries in Africa it has activities for all, from sandboarding to quad biking to hiking, in the biggest canyon in Africa at Fish River Canyon Park.
Then there is the Skeleton Coast. Host to a myriad of shipwrecks that get caught out by the heavy fogs that sometimes hug the coastline and where there are plenty you can see that have run ashore. Although some maybe unrecognisable these days, there are a lot that are still remarkably intact. It is also a great place to surf but if you'd rather, you can kayak with seals and watch them play.
Namibia is home to 2 of the tallest sand dunes in the world: the imaginatively named Dune 7, because it is the 7th dune you come to and at 1,256 feet high is the tallest in Namibia and the more imaginatively named Big Daddy. At 1,066 feet tall isn’t that far behind Dune 7. If you want big Namibia does big.

Talking of big, Namibia is home to the largest canyon in Africa. At 100 miles long and in places 1/3 of mile deep, it is second in size only to the Grand Canyon in the US. You can go hiking with an experienced guide for about half the canyon’s length and if this appeals you will need to set aside 4 days to complete the journey.
Elsewhere Namibia is famed for its amazing scenery encompassing deserted towns that nature is reclaiming, salt flats that just never seem to end and Epupa Falls that demand you get your camera out.
Although Namibia may not immediately spring to mind, for a holiday like no other, with scenery like nowhere else, then it really should.

Facing the Atlantic Ocean, the beaches in Namibia, on the whole, are wild and lonely places but you can find some real gems filled with friendly locals, bars and hotels.
It is up to you as to how adventurous you want to be. However, as you have made it this far, you have proved you are already an Adventurer.
A Namibian Safari is a real trip into the wilderness as Namibia is one of Africa's least visited countries and therefore, still as Nature intended. You are just as likely to see the big 5 animals as you are in the more popular destinations such as Kenya or South Africa. In Namibia you get the real feeling that you are an explorer and the first to find out what is just around the next corner.
