Amazing holidays in India
Inspirational India
There is so much to India that it's really difficult to know where to start. I have been to India many times and always absolutely love its diversity, its spiritualism, its people, the richness in its variety and of course, its food. Oh my goodness, the food! There is so much to see, so many things to experience you couldn't possibly do it all in one trip.
India is home to one of the oldest and richest civilisations in the world. You can witness the glorious heritage of India in its monuments, temples, forts, palaces and museums. Some of the stand-out attractions are said to be the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Qutub Minar in Delhi, the Gateway of India in Mumbai, and the Charminar in Hyderabad. However, the Taj Mahal aside for the moment, my actual favourite is the Old Palace of Mysor. It's incredible. I prefer it to the newer 100 year old new palace which was constructed right next to it. The old palace is tiny in comparison and yet mindblowingly gorgeous. The pathways and steps have been worn smooth with centuries of footsteps and its serenity, in comparison to the chaotic streets beyond its gates, fills your soul and allows you to draw breath and reset.

If nature is your thing, then wow! In the north, you have the enormous, snow-capped mountain range of the Himalayas; stark, dramatic, imposing, beautiful! At the opposite end in the south, you have Kerala; the garden of India. Serene backwaters with house boats aplenty and beautiful beaches. Heading back northwards on the west coast, you have Goa; known for its endless beaches, old churches, Portuguese-style houses and world heritage listed architecture. Then of course, you have everything in between.....but when "in between" is so vast (India is the 7th largest country and the most populous in the world), finding those "off the beaten track" trips can be a little tricky. One of the loveliest and surprising places I visited was The Big Banyan Tree not far from Bengalaru. It was so peaceful and unexpected. The tree is over 400 years old and its branches are home to little blush faced monkeys and palm squirrels. Very cute! There is also a vineyard resort here too which is a perfect get away for a couple of days from the hustle and bustle of a busy trip.
