Amazing holidays in Nepal
A land of wonder, adventure and rejuvenation
It staggers me that a country so small, can pack in such enormity. Nepal is only a tiny bit bigger than England and almost half the size of the UK and yet is home to the largest mountain in the world. That of course is Mount Everest. Magnificent, imposing, awe inspiring. It just makes you want to tie up your boots and get trekking! If hiking is your thing, then Nepal really is your paradise. You don't have to be a mountaineer to make the most of this region. You can do guided hikes and hill climbs or you can trek through the lush valleys, forests and meadows that surround the Himalayas. You can also explore the diverse terrain of Nepal's lowlands where you can find gorgeous lakes, rivers, waterfalls, jungles and plains. The big one though.....you can embark on a once in a lifetime journey to Everest Base Camp where you can get close to the highest point on earth, or hike the Annapurna Circuit. There is something for everyone and all levels of fitness.
Nepal is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities, with more than 36 castes and 32 languages. Each group has its own customs, traditions, cuisines, costumes, music, dance and festivals. You can learn about their fascinating histories and lifestyles by visiting their villages and museums. You can also join them in celebrating their festivals which are full of joy, colour and music.
Nepal is known for its friendly and hospitable people who are always ready to welcome visitors with a smile and a namaste. They are generous, helpful, respectful and curious about other cultures. They are also proud of their country and eager to share its beauty and charm with others. Are you ready for an experience of a lifetime? Nepalese food is delicious. Their steamed dumplings momo will have you eager for more more! I love their noodle soup too, particularly when paired with sel roti, a ring shaped rice bread. The cuisine reflects Nepal's diverse influences and in the cities you can also enjoy international dishes like Chinese, Indian, Thai, Tibetan and many more.
Talking again of how such a small country can pack so much in, Nepal has 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites which show case its rich cultural and natural heritage. There are 7 of the 10 in Kathmandu Valley alone including ancient temples, palaces, stupas and monuments. Nepal however, is not just a sightseeing trip. You can also indulge in various activities that will test your courage and strength such as rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping and paragliding.
