Skiing in Austria- Home of the apres-ski
There is no reason why Austria shouldn't be top of your list when choosing your next ski destination. As reliable for snow as Switzerland and France and with facilities to rival both of the major Alps destinations, Austria is also renowned for allowing your spending money to go a little bit further than its more popular rivals.
And who would have guessed that Austria was also the home and founder of apres-ski? Although this is disputed elsewhere, the Austrians have certainly taken apres-ski to a new level.
As for the resorts, well, the list is just the tip of the piste and is certainly not exhaustive:
- Kitzbuhel
- St Anton
- Innsbruck
- Mayrhofen
- Soll

Although suited most for beginners and intermediates, there is also some challlenging advanced slopes to try as well; so something for all skiers.
Kitzbuhel is also home to some of Austria's most luxurious hotels or, if you prefer, there are chalets that can be rented.
Famous for its chocolate box charm, Kitzbuhel also has some legendary apres-ski that can be enjoyed by skiers and non-skiers alike.
All in all, whats not to love about Kitzbuhel?
