Bulgaria Ski trips
Bulgaria - Up and coming in the ski world
Bulgaria has rapidly become a great option for a ski holiday. Family friendly, it can be a great lower cost option to introduce yourself to skiing as compared to the main resorts of the Alps.
Whilst not as big as many of the Alps resorts, Bulgaria offers very good records of snowfall and World Cup standard pistes for you to explore. This is true whether you go for a family friendly resort, a resort with lively nightlife, or an historic town.
Many of the resorts are also situated close to Sofia and are easy to reach from the Bulgarian capital if you want to combine a city break with a weekend's skiing.

Borovets, 43 miles south of Sofia, was once the favoured place to visit of Bulgaria's royal family and because of this, it has some of the finest and most luxurious hotels. The most famous of which is the Hotel Yastrebets which allows for ski-in and ski-out access. It also offers night skiing until 10pm.
Bulgaria's most famous ski resort is Bansko and is also the largest with nearly 50 miles of pistes to enjoy. It has runs from blue level (the easiest) to black level (the hardest) and is one of the highest resorts in Bulgaria.
Another great advantage of Bulgaria is, because of its latitude, it also enjoys longer and sunnier days than many other European resorts, giving you more time to do what you want to do. There has also been a lot of investment in the resorts recently to upgrade the snow making equipment to keep the resorts in tip top condition.
All in all Bulgaria is worth considering for your next ski holiday but don't hang around. Click below and lets find your downhill paradise.
Bansko is the premier ski resort in Bulgaria and welcomes many British tourists every season.
Bansko is more suited to beginners and intermediates and offers something different compared to the resort of the Alps. Having said that though, Bansko does now feature on the World Cup circuit which will elevate its status.
Pricing is very competitive, especially compared to the Alps. So if you are not sure whether a skiing holiday is for you but you're itching to try, then this is an opportunity to test the water.
Borovets, situated in the Rila National Park, is the longest established ski resort in Bulgaria. Once the preserve of Bulgaria's Royal family, Borovets wraps around the Musala peak which is Bulgaria's highest peak.
In a country, that in skiing terms at least, offers value for money, Borovets offers the most value. As such it does tend to attract a younger and less experienced ski crowd. Unusually Borovets seems to have more snowfall later in the season compared to other resorts.
Borovets has recently increased its snow cannon coverage to 60% of the runs bringing more certainty to your wintersports.
